Why Tiller For Tomorrow ?

...we have got to do something different than anything Republican and Democratic figures in Washington have been arguing about (during) my adult life. The political, social, economic, technological changes beneath our feet are only getting faster...so the question is... Can we master those changes before they master us?
The difficulty of democratic forces getting a foothold in…the kind of society we have, is so problematic now…given the ubiquity of the present economic system. It’s a very paradoxical situation. I think we all have to take a deep breath and try to start from scratch again in thinking about where we are and how we got there and what kind of immediate steps we might take in order to alter the course.
We cannot solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them.

Human Collective Learning (the tenth threshold event in the history of the world) is a very, very powerful force and it’s not clear that we humans are in charge. We seem to be undermining the goldilocks conditions that made it possible for human civilizations to flourish these last ten thousand years.

…while the obvious symptoms of our society in decline must be dealt with politically, the deep underlying factors that drive the decline itself will remain. They are implicit in our amazing technologies and our global interconnectedness—as are our remedies.

“After this particularly odious cycle of decay is over, the global economy will continue to assert its reality, Twitter will continue to disseminate untruth, confirmation bias will feed polarization, clever manipulators will continue to harness Facebook, and our inadequate language of public discourse will continue to erode reason.

“The great challenge facing human ingenuity today is not the next iPhone, nor even a more efficient solar panel, but the wise orchestration of ingenuity’s children. And the great question confronting us now?

”Is America’s legendary capacity for creativity still up to this challenge?

Stay tuned!
